Frequently asked questions
Learn more about what to expect before, during, and after different procedures
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes! New patients are always welcomed in our office. The success of our practice is based on the satisfaction of all our patients. Your referral of friends and family is the best compliment we can receive in achieving the highest level of oral care.
Does my insurance cover this?
If you have dental insurance, it will cover a certain percentage of procedures up to a maximum amount each year. You are responsible for the percentage not covered or any amounts over that annual limit. Confused? Don’t worry! Our office administrators will explain it all to you. We do direct billing, which means that you only pay the part that is not covered by insurance. We will deal with your insurance provider, and they will pay us directly.
In some instances, people have a Health Spending Account (HSA) with their insurance, with which they can use the funds for any extended health treatments they choose. If you have an HSA, you would pay for the entire cost of the visit, and we will give you the documentation you need to submit to your HSA for reimbursement.
What if I don't have insurance?
We offer the Karma Program for our patients who do not have insurance. The $200 Karma Cleaning includes two and a half units of scaling, and two bite-wing x-rays and a conversations with the hygienist to see if there are any areas of concern. All of our appointments are educational, and come with information, tips and tricks to improve the health of your smile at home based on your individual needs.
At the moment this program is only for hygiene appointments. Please note that some conditions may apply.
We can discuss your options during your appointment if further treatment if it's needed, like our Cavity Management Program or a visit with the dentist.
How does financing work?
I'm in! How do I schedule an appointment?
You can request an appointment online through our website here.
Or you can call us! Sometimes calling is quicker; we can go over various days and times together on the phone.
Call now: 403-457-0250.
If you get our answering machine, leave us a message and we'll be sure to return your call as soon as we get it!
I work full time and have kids. How easy will it be for us to get an appointment?
We are open until 6:00 pm and open on Saturdays, so we can accommodate many schedules. It is best to call if you want a later appointment, or want several appointments together with other family members. Our receptionists and hygienists will do what ever they can to accommodate you!
Should I arrive early for my first appointment?
Yes, you should arrive 10-15 minutes early in order to fill out your patient forms. If you would like to save some time, you can download the form here, fill it out in a PDF reader, and then e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org before you arrive for your appointment. Please remember to bring your insurance information/card with you for your first appointment, so that we can add it to your profile.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Expect your first appointment to be just under 1 ½ hours. During this time our hygienist will perform an exam, take any x-rays that may be necessary, and will clean and polish your teeth. You will then have your laser whitening done if you wish, which takes about 30 minutes. The hygienist will advise you if they thinks you should make an appointment to see our dentist, and they will create a tentative treatment plan for you.
Do you have patient parking?
We do not have designated patient parking. On 2nd street (east of our clinic), there is 2 hour parking available. During the day, there is paid parking along 4th street. Please read the signs carefully to know when you need to pay, and when it is free. Be sure not to park in the handicap parking space along the street outside of our clinic!
I'm interested in teeth whitening. Do you offer this service?
Yes. Whitening is one of the most popular procedures we do. It is the safest, most non-invasive cosmetic procedure you can have. The results are instantaneous, and though results vary with each patient, you will have a noticeably brighter smile. We offer single whitening procedures for only $125.00. You can learn more about the whitening procedure here.
I'm interested in improving the look of my smile. What can you do for me?
For cracked, decayed, or missing teeth, we can also discuss veneers, dentures, implants, crowns and other options for improving your smile. A check up should be scheduled to discuss your options.
How do I take care myself after an extraction? A filling? A root canal?
Our dentist and dental assistant will provide you with instructions to take home with you after your procedure. Different dental procedures, the use of anesthetic, and your bodies healing systems will cause varying degrees of the side effects listed within the consent forms and aftercare instructions you were given. It's important to know what is to be expected after your procedure. Here is some information in case you misplaced yours:
What if I need a specialist?
If you require treatment not done at this office, we will send a referral to the appropriate specialist. We have several specialists that we deal with on a regular basis, who are located near our office. If you wish to be referred to someone in another area of the city, we can do that as well.
What if I have an emergency?
If you have a dental emergency, it’s recommended that you do an internet search for “emergency dental Calgary” and find an office that is open and able to see you. One we recommend is Emergency Dental YYC located on MacLeod Trail and 39th Avenue S.W.. You may certainly call us first if the emergency is happening during our opening hours, and explain the issue, and we can advise you what to do.
Sometimes going to a medical doctor is an option as well, depending on the situation. The ER department or Urgent Care may be able to help as well, again depending on the situation. If in doubt, or your emergency isn't during business hours, please go to the nearest 24 hour emergency center. The closest one to our office is the Sheldon M. Chumir hospital located at 1213 4th Street SW.
